Welcome to Flash Fiction Month, Day 9+((4^3)/8)

Week 3, Challenge 2. And because variety is the spice of life*, today's challenge will demand a shift in tone.

*This is a lie. The spice of life is actually cardamom.

Instructions

Flash Fiction Month is about writing one piece of very short "flash" fiction (55-1000 words) every day of July.

Paste a link to your flash fiction piece for July 17th in the comments below.

Every day, there will be a new deviation where you can post a link to your piece of flash fiction for the day.

From time to time, we'll ramp it up a gear and ask you to try your hand at a challenge. It's your choice whether you do the challenge, but to be eligible for a weekly prize, you need to have completed all stories for that week, submitted them on time, and completed all the challenges.  If you complete every challenge and write a piece every day for the whole month, you might be in line for even better prizes, and you'll certainly get a whiter smile, be invited to more parties and improve your manly/womanly vigour.

If you decide to try the challenge, please put Challenge in your comment below, so we, and your fellow participants, will know. Otherwise, we might will assume you didn't do it.

Everyone loves comments and encouragement, so do make an effort to encourage your fellow Flash Fiction Month participants. Let's help each other to have the best possible experience. A quick comment lets a writer know somebody's reading, and we all love that.

Challenge #8: This is Getting Serious

This third week is all about triune challenges, and this is no exception:
  • Element ONE: Your story must have a theme of social justice* ills. Look at the world (yes, this current world, no speculative fiction this time) around you, find something seriously wrong with it, and write about that.
  • Element TWO: Your story must be serious in nature (I too think that the liquor license laws that prevent me from opening a bar in my living room are unfair, but this challenge is about finding something bigger). FFM isn't usually serious, but, you know, it's a CHALLENGE.
  • Element THREE: Your story must not use any first person pronouns (I, we, us, my, mine, our, ours, etc).
If you do this challenge, write 'challenge' in your post below.

*Apparently this word doesn't mean what Hydra thought it meant. Many apologies. Hydra sad. Hydra cut own head off in shame. Challenge entries already completed, you guys are fine. Don't sweat the change.

Reminders

For those reading this who still haven't signed up for thirty-one days of fun, flashing (not suitable for readers under the age of 12 unless accompanied by a paying adult) and fiction, learn about Flash Fiction Month here, and then sign up here. It's never too late to join in the action.

Please make your fellow flashers feel that their efforts are worthwhile by reading their pieces and posting encouraging comments.

If all you're doing during July is writing thirty-one stories, you're missing out on a third of the fun. Check out the official Chat Room, where you can find encouragement, new prompts, and fart jokes in abundance.

I've really been missing the fun by being such a tangential participant this year. Here's some more my-internet-was-out catching up: fav.me/d7ryzvq

And since the Miss Perosi one was the most mentioned and liked so far, it's another one in that vein.
